How do our tables "work"?

Our chess tables utilize simple - yet perfectly designed - mechanics to convert from a high end coffee, end, or even dinner table to a high end chess table in a few very easy steps. Because chess pieces are not moved during this process, these tables provide an opportunity for avid chess players to effortlessly keep unfinished chess games securely protected. There is no electricity required nor any sacrifice in appearance or quality. Larger tables can include a removable center leaf in order to keep everything easily manageable.

What is your return policy?

J.W. Chess does not expect that you will want to return your table, but accepts returns on all orders within 60 days of receipt of shipping – no questions asked. There will be a restocking fee, usually between 25-50%, depending on various factors including whether your table was custom made to your order. Except under rare circumstances, the customer is responsible for return shipping and a refund is administered within two weeks of the day your table is received by our warehouse.

Can I see my custom-made table before I pay for it?

J.W. Chess requires half of your payment up front in order to commission the manufacture of your chess table. When manufacturing is complete, we will provide you with photographs of your new chess table and you may view these photographs before deciding to pay your second installment. On average, it will usually take approximately 60 days for the manufacturing process to be complete.

Can I use my own chess board and set with one of your tables?

Yes - in fact, our unique tables might just make the perfect complement to your unique collector set. Or, we can either build or include a new set for you.

How much do your chess tables cost?

Our chess tables can range anywhere from about $3,000 to $10,000 and up depending on your exact criteria; we strive to make the exact table which you desire. A certificate of authenticity will be sent to you along with your new table.

Our price quotes always include all shipping costs, for your convenience. Any price provided on this site refers to orders being shipped to anywhere within the mainland United States. We can also ship to Canada and elsewhere, in which event relevant costs increase accordingly.

What forms of payment do you accept?

J.W. Chess accepts personal checks and all major credit cards.

Do you only manufacture chess tables?

Our tables are designed primarily to meet the needs of chess players. However they can also serve as backgammon tables, wine coolers, or just elegant, versatile pieces of furniture. Just let us know what you are looking for, and we should be able to find a way to make it happen.
